Micro Pave Diamond Setting

A pavé or micro pavé setting features a line of either diamonds or gemstones set deep within the grooves of the band to create a seamless look that resembles the cobblestone pavement of a road.

Micro pavé or micro setting uses smaller stones than traditional pavé and is a relatively modern technique. The tiny diamonds also known as diamond melees used in micro pave settings are commonly round as this is easier for jewelers to work with and tend to fit into the setting with ease. A pave setting is called a micro pave setting when the diamonds used are ultra small typically with diamonds that are smaller in size than 01 carat. Because of the added shimmer a pavé setting can make a diamond look larger than it actually is allowing you to save money by choosing a smaller center stone.

The pave setting may also be referred to as a bead setting and if the paved stones are especially small smaller than about 01 carats a micro pavé setting. Micro pavé settings use incredible small diamonds with a carat weight of less than 0 01ct per stone.
